If the above has not worked, most Windows versions have what we call 'safe mode'. We can start the computer into safe mode, which is basically a light copy of Windows. This will start the Windows Operating System into a mode where we have greater control & that is mostly unaffected by viruses. You can start into safe mode by turning the computer off then back on, tapping F8 as soon as it's turned back on. If you are having trouble getting the computer to switch off, you will need to hold in the power button for about 4 to 5 seconds until the screen goes black (never yank out the power cable).

I have had browser hijackers still function when the computer has been in safe mode so it's probably best to run a heavy duty program like 'combofix' if they're still causing havoc. This program combofix should be used as a last resort however as it can destroy your copy of Windows (not to worry, computers can be restored with various methods - see System Restore & re-installing Windows) If the issue is software related it can always be fixed.

Now that we've got the computer functioning after a virus scan, we will want to look through the registry. Be very careful when in the registry as you can cause the computer to stop functioning, the only way to fix it would be restoring back to factory defaults with either System Restore or a Re-install/repair of Windows.

Load computer back into normal mode (turn off & turn back on) - you should now be browser hijack free!

Now-a-days numerous unauthorized websites are available online that advertises varieties of fake antivirus and other programs. Antispytag.com is one such security website that seems to provide cyber safety informations but in reality it is part of malware. It is specially designed to promote rogue program. This website is great promoter and distributor of fake security program named Antivirus Action. This rogue antivirus doesn't possess any security features but only trick the user by its fake security alerts and messages. You should not trust this website and its product because it is a browser hijacker that will hijack your Internet explorer or Firefox when get installed in your system. So, immediately remove Antispytag.com browser hijacker to protect your PC.

Antivirus Action is completely fake program which enters your PC with the help of Trojans and other malware. It changes the Internet proxy settings and ultimately gain control over your networking. You can't access any authentic website as it display false virus alerts and redirect you to Antispytag.com. It will remove the basic hijacker, but in the client's computer I was working on, it did not remove all the backups of the file that had been created. At this point I had to manually go in and delete the malicious files in safe mode. If you ran virsCAN you would be able to tell where all of the browser hijacker had embedded its self into.

This was one of the toughest hijackers I have ever had to remove. I see a lot more of them coming into the office. I have bought a tool that has helped me get rid of browser hijacker tubby. I normally wouldn't mid manually getting rid of this hijacker, but it install so much junk into hidden areas it can be hard to find everything.
